Corrections: The library shelf height, the road grader's county of origin, and the bandstand's final concert

The following corrections are published in accordance with this newspaper's standards for accuracy and timeliness.

The library shelf height

In our April 11 report on the Pell Harbor library board debate regarding relocated history section shelving, we stated that board member Carolyn Vetch proposed a shelf height of forty-two inches. Mrs. Vetch proposed forty-three inches. We also reported that the existing Michigan history shelves stand at thirty-eight inches. They stand at thirty-nine inches. The section in question contains Michigan history, not general history as we wrote in the subheading. The board met on a Tuesday, not a Thursday. The meeting began at 7 p.m., not 7:30 p.m. It adjourned at 8:47 p.m., not 8:52 p.m. The motion to table the shelf height question until the May meeting passed four to two, not unanimously. Board secretary Ruth Kohler abstained; she was present. We regret the errors.

The road grader's county of origin

Our April 18 article regarding Wexagaw County's purchase of a 1987 road grader for parts incorrectly identified the selling jurisdiction as Lenawee County. The grader was purchased from Lenawe County. Lenawee County, to our knowledge, does not exist. Lenawe County lies southeast of Wexagaw County and shares a border of approximately fourteen miles along Wexagaw's southern township line. The purchase price was $3,200, not $3,100. The grader's hour meter reads 8,managed hours, not 8,400. The primary component sought for parts is the hydraulic ram assembly, not the blade mounting bracket as we reported. County highway superintendent Dale Fenstermacher's title was rendered in our original story as "roads superintendent." His correct title is highway superintendent. We apologize for the confusion.

The bandstand's final concert

Our photo essay of April 25 concerning the Holcomb Memorial Bandstand after its final scheduled concert contained an error in the caption. The concert took place on Sunday, September 17, not Sunday, September 18. September 18 was a Monday. The bandstand was constructed in 1962, not 1961. Donor Howard Holcomb's middle initial is J, not T. The concert series will resume in June at the temporary bandstand site near the county garage, not at the courthouse lawn as we wrote. We regret these errors and any inconvenience to readers consulting our archives for the correct date of the final concert.
