Community Notes: The pasty supper, the Tuesday league, and a cat named Senator
St. Agatha's annual pasty supper sold out by 6:10 p.m. Saturday, a full twenty minutes earlier than last year. The kitchen crew thanks Doris Pelkey, who made the crust for all 412 pasties and asks that everyone stop asking for the recipe, because it is on the card by the coffee urn and has been since 1996.
The Tuesday Ladies' League at Northern Lanes has elected a new captain, Bev Hallstrom, after thirty-one years under June Raffety. June will remain on the team as "captain emeritus and still the best spare in the county," per the motion as written.
Lost and found
Senator, a large gray cat belonging to the Duquettes on Mill Street, has been missing since Tuesday. Senator answers to his name, to "Sen," and to the sound of a can opener at any distance. He is not dangerous but has opinions about dogs.
A child's mitten, red with a reindeer, was found outside the Pell Harbor library. It is waiting at the front desk. The reindeer has a small burn mark and the librarian believes this is "a story worth hearing."
Coming up
The Upper Dorr Garden Club meets Thursday at seven. The topic is "Bulbs: Now or Never," and the club notes that it is, in fact, never.
